Why not create a Linux VM, and install Nessus. You can then check the patch level with the proper credentials.

You can also use OpenBSD. Here is a link to an appliance running OBSD 4.2 with VMWare Tools installed. Nessus is a part of the ports collection for OpenBSD. http://www.vmware.com/appliances/directory/1075

You can then get a free plugin subscription from tenable. http://www.nessus.org/nessus/

I'm looking for a virtual machine for ESX that I can drop into an environment, hit all IP addresses and with appropriate credentials, pull back what machines as missing what Microsoft Vulnerabilities.

Are there any VM machines out there with any IPS/IDS solutions that would fit this need?

I apologize if someone has responded to a request like this before and I missed it.

Thanks,
