Alert mail won't work...

Hey I've tried and tried, but I still can't get mail alert to work on: 
nokia ip330 (ipso 3.7), ng-ai, (r55), build 127... 
can not get Microsoft exchange server to accept telnet, so of course
sendmail does 
not work... whenever we try to telnet:

CONNECTION REFUSED... but any other windows box can... have tried 
every article in checkpoint knowledgebase (advanced)... still no solutions
work...
I know someone out there had to have same issue and found fix...
