No opinion on Checkpoint vs Cisco firewalls...

As for IDS, I chose Netscreen's (formerly OneSecure) IDS solution to use
inline with PIX firewalls.

It is questionable how well Cisco's IDS integrates with their own
exceptionally non-uniform product line much less a competitors.
