Citrix ICA Proxy

Does anyone know specifically what the Sidewinder G2 Citrix ICA Proxy
does to secure a session beyond what a normal circuit-level gateway or
SOCKS proxy can do?

Also, if it is doing some application inspection, how does it deal with
encrypted connections going through the proxy to a Citrix Secure
Gateway?
