BlackIce

I've not used the corporate version of BlaceIce, but I'm running
Black Ice Defender on my Win2k pro system, and it seems to catch
a lot of hostile traffic, but sometimes is a little big vague in
it's descriptive qualities. For instance, a SYN-FIN scan may
be classified as an "OS fingerprint" when that may not be the case.
Of course, you can dump your data into an app such as Ethereal for
greater analysis, but it's still a "light" IDS/personal firewall
in my opinion. It may certainly be good enough to get the job done.
BTW I've not ran mine in "paranoid" mode so there may be more
security with this setting. It's also got a nice auto update feature
to keep things current. The granularity of attack criteria is not
as detailed as I would like, but for the price, I think it's a great
choice.
