Stealth firewall??

Hi all.

I heard there is fire wall which can hide the local IP.
And I saw one. The person who is using that fire wall
came to my webserver (Apache).

I was looking at my web log in real-time (tail -f 
access_log). I am 100% sure he came to my 
webserver.

Can anyone tell me how this is possible?
I'm a newbie.
