Security urban legends

Thanks, though of course this is an assertion (and a very recent one) likely based on this story that's been going around for years. But it's the closest anyone has come.
I've always discounted it as a security urban legend. Hmmm.... Is it getting time for a security urban legends FAQ? I could take up a collection. :) The "kid gets off because of Welcome Banner" story would be one item. The "trapdoor in checkpoint firewall-1" story would be another. Anyone got any other candidates? :) mjr. -- Marcus J. Ranum, CEO, Network Flight Recorder, Inc. work - http://www.nfr.net home - http://www.clark.net/pub/mjr
