I'm trying to forward mail through an isolated firewall (Gauntlet 4.1a /
Solaris 2.5.1 - all patches) to another firewall (same config) that is
attached to the internet. The Isolated firewall wants to send mail direct
and cannot find the destination host. How do I tell the isolated firewall
to forward mail to the Internet attached firewall? I have tried
'DFhostname.com' in sendmail.cf to no avail. That was the best I could come
up with, not being familiar with sendmail.

just define the smarthost for the internal firewall, ie: in the
sendmail.cf for the isolated firewall, look for the DS macro and put in
the name of the firewall that is attached to the Internet. This will
cause the internal firewall to forward all mail ( that it doesn't know
how to deliver ) to the Internet connected machine for delivery.

Hope that helps

PS: this info is relevant to sendmail v8.x.x and/or sendmail on a Sun box
running solaris 2.6 or higher. It may apply to previous versions of
Solaris, but I can't recall at the moment.
