proxy access

Hi! i'm connected to my isp thru a lan and m$ proxy 2.0 . Only can use ftp
, mail and so from windows with mspclient installed. Would like to use also
UNIX clients (ftp , sendmail etc). How? I can use http with Netscape, but
nothing more. I've heard that clients must be socks compatible ; in this
case , where can i get some code about it?
