I would agree that "burglar alarm" better represents what you're
referring to, but the limitations still exist. My motion detectors don't
go off when my dogs come in through the dog door, but they do if a
person does, but that depends on whether the person is larger than my
dogs, or whether or not the dogs are humping at the time and appear as
one, much larger, dog!!...;-]

YMMV, depending on the size of your dogs...;-]
