We use R Studio in an enclave type of environment. If you can get all the
required packages installed prior to bringing the machine into the
environment that is ideal. In my experience, this is seldom feasible, so
being able to reach a CRAN repository becomes important. You could perhaps
do this through a proxy or firewall configuration, or run a CRAN mirror
inside your environment, depending on your risk model. Similar challenges
with python and other programming environments.

Our Institutional Research group is looking to use R Studio for much of
their reporting. We use a Protective Enclave so they are experiencing many
access issues. Are other institutions using R Studio and if so, is it in a
protected environment?
