November IAM Online: Going Passwordless at Stanford Wednesday, November 13, 2019 2 pm ET | 1 pm CT | Noon MT | 11 am PT www.incommon.org/iamonline Capping a multi-year effort to transition away from passwords, Stanford University has deployed the final component: client-side X.509 certificates that strongly authenticate both the user and the device. This authentication mechanism is integrated with the university's Shibboleth and RADIUS servers for web SSO, VPN, and 802.1X wireless. Michael Duff, chief information security officer at Stanford, will describe why the university took this approach and the lessons learned along the journey. He will also discuss the underlying systems and key design decisions made during the six-year project. Join us to hear this success story of "safer and simpler computing," where security and user experience are markedly improved simultaneously. ----- Presenters Michael Duff, Stanford University Tom Barton, moderator, University of Chicago and Internet2, ----- Connecting Side sharing and audio via Zoom: https://internet2.zoom.us/j/886598327 Or join by phone: Dial (US): (669) 900-6833 or (646) 558-8656 Webinar ID: 886 598 327 International numbers available: https://zoom.us/u/bKX4teTZh ----- About IAM Online IAM Online is a monthly online education series brought to you by Internet2’s InCommon community and the EDUCAUSE Higher Education Information Security Council (HEISC). ----- Note: This message was also posted on the IDM Community Group list yesterday by Dean Woodbeck.
