InfoSec Student opportunities for the SEC19 conference in Chicago!

The 2019 Security Professionals Conference <https://events.educause.edu/security-professionals-conference/2019> program committee is excited to announce a new opportunity for students interested in pursuing a cybersecurity or privacy career. Six college students will be selected to attend this year’s event in Chicago (May 13-15) and serve as track facilitators. Student facilitators are conference ambassadors who will assist EDUCAUSE staff, program committee members, and speakers with the following tasks: - Work with speakers before each session begins to ensure that there are no technical issues - Introduce the speaker(s) at the beginning of each session - Assist the speaker(s) as needed during the presentation Advantages of volunteering as a student facilitator: - Attend and participate in 2 full days of the 2019 Security Professionals Conference, May 14-15 (the equivalent of 11 hours of CPE credits for those maintaining security or privacy certifications). A complimentary full conference registration will be provided. - Opportunities to network with campus security, privacy, and IT leaders and meet potential mentors. - Join attendees during meals, refreshment breaks, game night, and other social activities. - Learn about the latest information security, privacy, and risk management innovations, strategies, and collaborations in higher ed. - Meet EDUCAUSE corporate members attending the event to showcase their security and privacy products and services. - Have the opportunity to publish a guest blog about your experience at the conference in the EDUCAUSE Review Security Matters <http://er.educause.edu/columns/security-matters> column. Eligibility requirements for student facilitators: - Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university. (Preference will be shown for students nearing graduation and joining the workforce.) - Interested in studying or pursuing a career in information security or privacy. - Available to meet with program committee members on Monday, May 13, for a 1-hour orientation session. - Available onsite for two days: Tuesday, May 14 and Wednesday 15, 7:45 am – 5 pm CDT. - Responsible for making their own travel and hotel arrangements. - Responsible for covering any costs associated with travel, lodging, or meals not provided during the conference. (Only the conference registration fee will be covered by EDUCAUSE.)
