Building SPC panel on recruiting and hiring

With the addition of leadership/professional development/personnel management track in the 2019 SPC conference and the
call for proposals open (https://events.educause.edu/security-professionals-conference/2019/call-for-proposals), I’m
looking for a few partners to work with on a panel session focused on people trying new/interesting/progressive things
in the area of recruiting and hiring.

My thought is to have a panel session with 4-ish people from different institutions who are doing interesting things in
recruiting and hiring for information security staff. Are you doing something special with how you write job postings,
how you advertise them, how you screen and interview, etc? Maybe you’re tackling challenges of recruiting in a smaller
city, increasing diversity, working with strict HR structures, etc.

I’m envisioning each person giving a brief overview of “my goal/challenge was X, so I did A, B and C because I felt it
would achieve my goals in these ways..” followed a combination of audience questions and questions from the panel
moderator (if needed to get things rolling or keep discussion active). My goal is to provide multiple viewpoints and a
variety of options that people could try. To that end, I’d like to build a panel that represents different approaches
and/or different constraints.

I try to doing new and different things each time I hire and push the envelope with new techniques to have an inclusive
and fair process. Do you do the same? Let’s talk.

Thanks,

Brad Judy
