Slate.com and SPF/DKIM to your root domain

If anyone is using slate.com and allowing them to have SPF/DKIM access to
your root domain, I was wondering if you could describe the advantages and
disadvantages of doing this.

I'm doing some research into this practice and would appreciates any
thoughts (pro or con) that you may have on this practice.
