The University of Toronto is looking for a Chief Information Security Officer.


The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) provides strategic leadership and oversight of UofT’s Information 
Security Program to ensure UofT’s networks, systems and information are protected in a manner that meets compliance 
with regulatory and policy requirements, aligning with and supporting the risk posture of the institution. The CISO is 
responsible for identifying, evaluating, and reporting on information security risks to the Chief Information Officer 
and University Senior team. The CISO provides leadership to senior technology staff and managers on securing university 
systems and data assets system-wide. The CISO will proactively work with UofT’s Faculties and Departments to implement 
practices that meet defined policies and standards for information security. The CISO will also oversee a variety of 
IT-related risk management activities.

Specifically, the Chief Information Security Officer is responsible for overseeing enterprise information security 
projects and communications, identity and access management, web site and applications security, technology and system 
security, and information security incident response across the three campuses and remote sites. The CISO works with 
other IT leaders to ensure the security of systems and adherence to policies and standards. The CISO works with the 
UofT Senior team and Governing Council to determine acceptable levels of risk for the organization.

Reports to UofT's Chief Information Officer (CIO) for enterprise-wide Information Security and has accountability to 
the FIPPA Office, The Audit Committee of Governing Council and the Senior Leadership Team. The CISO also Co-Chairs the 
Information Services Council.
