Managed desktop environment

Hello,

I'm interested hearing about successful strategies that folks have used at their university for requiring the 
installation of agents on campus desktops. The University of NH is working toward becoming a more managed environment 
for the security and performance benefits. We are currently using SCCM and are looking to establish a mandate of sorts 
that would require management of all end nodes when possible. Any strategies or lesson's learned out there from people 
that have done this?
