Here’s what we’re planning. This is our first go at this event. This summary doesn’t account for the planned
promotional activity (entirely electronic).
====================================================

Trapped in the Web!

The increasing connectivity between people and things and the challenges it presents in our everyday lives.

The growing presence of digital technologies in our work, homes, recreation, and relationships poses significant
threats to our safety, privacy and security. By focusing on the increased connectivity between people and things, we
will raise our campus community’s awareness of the potential threats posed by the convergence of multiple technologies.
The focus will be on demonstrating how these digital widgets collect, share, modify, and arbitrate information about
our personal and professional activities. This will be illustrated with real situations and practical solutions to
increase awareness and reduce vulnerability.
==========================
Dates and programs:
10/13, 12:00 – 1:00: Taken! Your Data Held Hostage
Ransomware: What it is, Who's behind it; How to Defend Against It

10/19, 12:00 -1:00: The Internet of Wild Things: Where Everyone is Headed
The full implications of complete interconnectivity.

10/24, 7:00-8:00: The Snares of Social Media
A panel presentation focusing on the risks inherent in social media and social networking. (This session is primarily,
although not exclusively, for students.)

Subject: [SECURITY] NCSAM Plans for October?

Good morning list mates,

I was wondering what you all were planning for National Cybersecurity Awareness Month? Do you have any special plans
or resources that you are willing to share with the group?

And, if you don't have plans, take a look at the HEISC 2016 Security Awareness Campaign materials, located here:
http://www.educause.edu/focus-areas-and-initiatives/policy-and-security/cybersecurity-initiative/community-engagement/security-awareness

The Campus Security Awareness Campaign is a framework designed to support security professionals and IT communicators
as they develop or enhance their own security awareness plans. The campaign features 12 blog posts on monthly topics
with ready-made content for your campus communication channels

Kind regards,
Joanna
