Stronger Authentication and the FIDO U2F Open Standard

The session will open by sketching out the challenges faced by higher education and research organizations as they
respond to the widely recognised need for stronger authentication. That will be followed by an overview of the new FIDO
alliance U2F (Universal 2nd Factor) open standard by speakers from Yubico, a leading contributor to the U2F standards
initiative and the open source community.

U2F offers novel protections against phishing and man-in the-middle attacks. With native support in both platforms and
browsers, U2F enables the range of software and hardware authenticators to login to any number of services with a
simple touch. Already supported by Google Apps for Education, Dropbox, GitHub, SAML and Wordpress, U2F has been
embraced by over a million users in 100 countries, and is supported by free open source servers.

Presenters:

Keith Hazelton, IT Architect, University of Wisconsin-Madison

Stina Ehensvard, CEO & Founder, Yubico

Kevin Casey, Product Manager, Yubico
