Stanford University has two new Associate Information Security Officer positions open in our growing information security team. If you're interested, we would love to hear from you. CORE DUTIES: * Partner with organizations throughout Stanford to promulgate information security improvements. * Participate in security risk assessments and mitigations with department and other University staff. * Inspect system and network data for computer and network usage policy compliance, system integrity and incident response. * Develop and deliver educational information to system administrators and users. Contribute toward the development and documentation of information security standards, best practices and guidelines. * In coordination with fellow team members, develop plans to safeguard computer configurations against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction or disclosure. * Alongside department colleagues, develop and implement ongoing test plans to ensure compliance with standards and processes. * In collaboration with other Information Security Office staff, research, design and advocate new technologies, architectures and security products. * Maintain a state-of-the-art awareness of information security issues, incidents, problems, utilities, legal requirements and solutions for all major information system platforms in use at Stanford. QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science (or equivalent) plus five years relevant experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Strong knowledge of authentication protocols, encryption and other fundamental security technologies. * Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and work effectively with individuals at all levels. * Familiarity with industry standard information security practices. * Experience with debugging, troubleshooting, forensics and security utilities. * Advanced knowledge and understanding of networking protocols, principles and devices. * High level of integrity and excellent judgment concerning proprietary and privacy issues. * Fundamental architecture and configuration knowledge of desktop and server operating systems. * Ability to lead projects is a plus.
