Ladies and Gentlemen,

The 2012 VA SCAN Conference is a little over a week away! This year's
confe=
rence is being held at the Virginia Military Institute's new Center for
Lea=
dership and Ethics in Lexington, Virginia, on October 9-10. The VA SCAN
Con=
ference brings together over 150 information security professionals from
co=
lleges, universities, and other agencies and organizations from across the
=
Commonwealth of Virginia and the surrounding area.

The keynote speaker for the 2012 VA SCAN Conference is Stacey Halota, the
h=
ead of Information Security and Privacy at The Washington Post. She joined
=
The Washington Post Company in 2003, where she leads the development and
im=
plementation of information security and privacy programs, including
Sarban=
es Oxley, privacy law, Payment Card Industry compliance and other data
prot=
ection efforts. Halota has more than 20 years of experience in the
informat=
ion technology, security and privacy field. Before joining The Washington
P=
ost Company she served as the federal government and southeast region
leade=
r of Guardent (now part of Verisign), a security and privacy consulting
and=
managed security services company. Prior to Guardent, she worked at
Pricew=
aterhouseCoopers in the Technology Risk Services consulting practice.

Halota was named Secure Computing Magazine's 2009 Chief Security Officer
of=
the Year, and was also named 2009 Mid-Atlantic Information Security
Execut=
ive of the Year (Commercial Category) by the Executive Alliance. She is a
C=
ertified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), a Certified
Inf=
ormation Privacy Professional (CIPP) and a Certified Information Systems
Au=
ditor (CISA).

Also, we are once again able to provide a low-cost SANS course to our
regis=
trants for a very small additional fee ($75; that's over 90% off of the
ret=
ail price). This year's SANS course is SEC 580.1: Metasploit Kung Fu for
En=
terprise Pen Testing.

For more information, or to register for the 2012 VA SCAN Conference,
pleas=
e visit the conference website at

_Scan/.

Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions!
