The ISO is responsible for the development of implementation of a comprehensive information security and privacy 
program across the Institute to safeguard data and ensure it is used for its intended purpose. This includes 
data/information in electronic, print and other formats. Working with functional units, executive management, and 
information technology (IT) professionals, the ISO observes and monitors the security of websites, applications, 
computers and databases. The ISO develops emergency procedures for handling security breaches, manages internal 
communication regarding system updates and provides estimates of security budgetary requirements. Additional 
responsibilities include assuring the Institute complies with state and federal statutory and regulatory requirements 
regarding information access, security and privacy.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Five years experience in information security, information technology or a related field. Experience 
developing and administering an information security program is highly desirable. Working knowledge and experience in 
the policy and regulatory environment of information security, particularly in higher education. Excellent project 
management, written and oral communication skills highly desired. The ability to work in a team/collaborative 
environment with a broad range of constituencies is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

A CISSP certification is preferred.
