Senior Information Security Engineer - Carnegie Mellon University - Information Security Office

Description

The Senior Information Security Engineer (SISE) is responsible for helping to provide computer and network security to 
the campus community. This will include responding to incidents; scanning and monitoring for security problems on the 
network; analyzing network traffic; developing, classifying, deploying, and debugging custom threat signatures; 
performing attack and penetration tests; executing procedures such as account password security tests; analyzing and 
securing compromised computer systems; working with other groups in the division to assist in securing infrastructure 
servers as needed; providing documentation and announcements for security, abuse issues, and current threats. 
Programming for reports, integration with other infrastructure software services, and other applications as needed. The 
SISE participates in and leads projects within the Information Security Office and provides consulting across the 
division and campus. The SISE provides direction and training to lower level staff. This role is also responsible for 
maintaining the department's systems infrastructure. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, configuration, 
security and tuning physical & virtual servers, databases, network appliances, and applications.
