We have an 8 hour window on the Saturday after patch Tuesday that is blessed and communicated by the provost.  The 
trick is to convey that this is the provost mandate not IT's mandate. Ultimately they are his/her systems and he/she 
wants to protect them so he/she is having you patch them and scheduled this window for you.

Our campus is looking at the possibility of having regularly scheduled outages for system updates and patches.  
Obviously on a college campus, the users want access to every system 24x7, but that is not realistic.  So, I'm poking 
this group to see what you all do for maintenance schedules.
