I have been using a Startcom StartSSL Free certificate
(http://www.startssl.com) for digitally signing e-mail through Outlook and
Microsoft Office documents. This cert is obtained through electronic means
only (no phone calls, no evidence of identity other than e-mail
confirmation) so it is low assurance. But, low assurance is better than no
assurance. Startcom offers verified certs, however, a fee is charged. The
Startcom Certificate Authority is listed in Microsoft's Trusted Root
Certificates.

I also use GPG but it is more difficult to use.

Subject: [SECURITY] Digital signatures....??

Hi folks....

Is anyone out there using digital signatures - I'm familiar with Entrust
(from the DOE/Fed world), and we are going to look into it, but I'm
wondering if anyone is using anything similar - or very different? We're
looking for a way to do electronic approvals on financials, HR documents,
etc.

Let me know....

Thanks,

Michael
