I'll second that. We're investigated VDI at the moment and any feedback
is invaluable.

We did a pilot of VDI solutions that wrapped up in November, 2009. It
is a very interesting space, with many vendors and possibilities. After
testing various products, we did an extended pilot of Citrix VDI with HP
thin clients.

I could give you details on our process and results if you are
interested, but long story short: thin client infrastructure costs are
rather deceptive. Further, thin clients add complexity (and thus new
points of failure) to operations, and a support burden shifts from
helpdesk staff to system administrators. We can envision thin clients
working where money/staff aren't a primary concern.

Hi Folks....

Anyone out there using Citrix and thin-clients (or diskless workstations)
in your academic computer labs and/or classrooms?.....or in
administrative registration/admissions areas? I'm looking at the
different vendor offerings (like VMWare View, and Microsofts new MED-V
and App-V), and keep coming back to Citrix/Xendesktop. What are you
folks using in the VDI realm??

Thanks,

Michael
