I do recommend that you join if you can. There are levels of membership
that enable most institutions to finance joining.
Information about membership is at: http://www.ren-isac.net/membership.html
There are significant benefits.
There is a purpose to the Educause Security list that emphasizes openness,
open participation (including vendors) and a broad range of discussion that
is free-flowing.
The REN-ISAC list, discussion and membership does not include vendors and
news reporters. Sharing must be done within specific guidelines to enhance
the security focus of the group. There are times when private and closed
discussions enhance working on security issues.

If anyone needs help making the case to their CIO, I'd be happy to support.

Thanks, Joel (and everybody else). I guess we'll sign up. Happy new year

Sounds like they honor the Chatham House Rule like at the NetFocus
conference.

Hi Bob,

I would highly recommend that you join if you can - there is information
and resources that will enhance your ability to secure your University. The
only
caution is also a benefit in that the information is shared in a closed
community and you need to be aware of where you are when you answer
questions :-)

IHTH
