Hello All,

Cornell University has developed a computer security book for faculty
and staff that is the cornerstone of our computer security awareness
campaigns at Cornell.

As part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, we'd like to
welcome other universities to use Cornell's computer security book as
a resource for the development of campus awareness and educational
materials.

A link to download the online PDF e-book is on the Computing at
Cornell Security web site at:

   http://www.cit.cornell.edu/security/handbook.cfm

The book covers the philosophy/educational aspects of topics we want
people at Cornell to know about computer security. All of the how-to
info is linked off to the Security web site at:

   http://www.cit.cornell.edu/security/

This was done so we can update how-to documentation on the fly as it changes.

We also provided print options for the book so that IT professionals,
or faculty and staff, can print a single chapter at a time and read
or share individual chapters with others if they want to know more
about a specific topic. See:

   http://www.cit.cornell.edu/security/printhandbook.cfm

The book is long but the intention was to gather everything into one
tidy resource that could be pulled from to develop specific smaller
campaigns about awareness issues that are of interest at particular
times.

Universities interested in using the resource can download the
InDesign document on the Educause web site, in the Cybersecurity
Awareness Resource Library, under Books, along with a READ ME file
that describes where Cornell purchased stock images from and how your
school can purchase them if wanted.

https://wiki.internet2.edu/confluence/display/itsg2/Cybersecurity+Awareness+Resource+Library

The book currently refers to policies specific to Cornell, but
universities are welcome to use the InDesign document available at
the Educause web site, and change/update it to meet individual needs,
mention your own policies, etc.

Thank you and good luck raising awareness this October for National
Cyber Security.
