The University of California operates Lawrence Berkeley National
Laboratory which conducts *unclassified* research across many
disciplines, and in particular operates "big science" experiments and
national user facilities.  LBL is recruiting for a member of the
Computer Protection Program (CPP), the central cyber security
organization at the Lab.   CPP designs and implements key shared
security controls across the Lab and sets the lab-wide cyber security
strategy.

As a member of the team, you'll use your unique expertise to develop new
techniques for improving the security of science experiments ranging
from small projects to large international collaborations.  You'll get
to work with smart people like:
1. The creator and many of the current developers of the Bro Intrusion
Detection System
2. One of the creators of TCPdump
3. The people who run one of the largest R&E wide area networks in the
country (ESnet)
4. The people who run the NERSC High Performance Computer Center
5. Lots of smart researchers including a few Nobel Prize Winners

Working at LBNL is a lot like working at a big research University, but
without so many undergrads and with a lot more flexibility regarding the
implementation of security.

All this plus living in the Bay Area, working for the University of
