Upper Midwest K-20 IT Security Conference Opportunity

IT Security: A Call to Action for the Education Community The third annual K-20 IT security conference for education and IT professionals will be held in Fargo at the Ramada Plaza Suites on November 1 and 2, 2006. Register by September 29 and receive a discount. Registration and additional information is available online at http://www.ndsu.edu/itsecurity . This conference may be especially convenient for those of you in the upper midwest/great plains of the USA or in central Canada. The conference is sponsored by North Dakota State University (NDSU) Information Technology Services and its EduTech group (ND K-12 education technology services). This conference will increase awareness of the associated risks of computer and network use in an academic setting with an emphasis on leadership and the end-users of technology. The planned program includes regional and national speakers speaking on topics such as: Looking Forward: Overcoming Obstacles and Adversity in the World of IT Security AUPs: Update, Enforce, & Survive Microsoft Windows VISTA: Securing the Desktop Information Safeguarding Panel An Exercise in Ethical Hacking Running a Server? How Does it Score on the Self Assessment Scorecard? Policy Development and Training Incident Response VoIP and Video End-point Security Risk Assessment. The conference will include presentations, panel discussions, information booths, and vendor visitation. All educational IT leaders and IT staff, including those responsible for policy development in an academic setting, are invited to attend. This conference also offers an opportunity for IT personnel from the private sector, such as financial and medical institutions, to learn more about information security practices as well as policy development and enforcement.
