We did it by accident until we fixed it....

Users wanted it. The internal sites we care about we prevent it on the
web server side.

Subject: [SECURITY] IE Save Password Feature

With more and more access to college applications being made via web
browsers, the Engineering/Security staff here are recommending that we
turn off the IE feature that lets you store the web based password
locally. We can do this through Active Directory policy services.

Though I think this may be a good practice for on campus systems, I
hesitate because of the large number of faculty and staff that have
likely booked marked and stored their ID's and passwords for many of
their academic web sites. Most likely do not even know/remember their
passwords.

Has anyone gone the way of locking out the ability to save a password in
IE? What has your experience been.
