The main players in the forensics field are: Guidance Software's EnCase AccessData's Forensic Toolkit Paraben's P2 Forensic Software ASR Data's SMART Open source - the Sleuth Kit and Autopsy Training is available from each vendor for their tools, along with basic forensic issues. SANS provides training for the open source tools as part of their GCFA track. Guidance Software and SANS both offer a forensic certification. A good place to go for some additional information and to meet some of your local law enforcement folks is an HTCIA (High Technology Crime Investigation Association) meeting - you can track down your local chapter at http://htcia.org/contactlocal2.htm. So for me, the question is: Is there a body of knowledge on cybersecurity crime forensics? Where does one (either in IT or in the police department) get that training?
