I had penned a reply asking you to clarify! "Obscenity" as defined by US Code is illegal as well, I think. (And, as the old saying goes, the courts can't say exactly what it is, but they'll know it when they see it.) At IU, by policy, the department director or school dean defines the allowable level of personal use of technology resources by their faculty and staff. If we get a complaint about faculty or staff viewing or collecting legal pornography, that complaint goes to the head of the department or school, and that person decides whether this is something the person should be involved in or not, at work. It may be OK for someone at the Kinsey Institute, or Sociology, but may not be OK for someone in Economics. If the complaint cites harassment, there are established procedures for handling those types of reports. M. -- Mark S. I apologize. Would anyone like to share their formal procedures for dealing with network misuse cases involving obscenity/pornography (adult, run of the mill type)? I would like to know how other universities handle this problem. Thank you.
