Oh. That's why I wouldn't have known that. I'm in Indiana, where we can't get the State legislature to understand how having our own time zone is a real problem, and even if they were convinces of that, they wouldn't then be able to agree whether we should be in the Central or Eastern time zones. That was "chosen" some time ago (probably the USNO or something would have more information). It is sort of like the campaign to change batteries in your smoke detectors. It's a day when people have to change their clocks so... Melissa Guenther wrote:
The day varies every year. In 2001, it was Oct. 30, so it is usually
one of
the last days on October. Many hold an event on either the Friday before, or the Monday after,
if the
day falls on a weekend. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dick Jacobson" <Dick.Jacobson () NDSU NODAK EDU> To: <SECURITY () LISTSERV EDUCAUSE EDU> Sent: Friday, October 24, 2003 11:59 AM Subject: Re: [SECURITY] Security Awareness Day - October 26thOn Fri, 24 Oct 2003, Bruhn, Mark S. wrote: I wondered .. but just figured it was someone in Government who could

any
institutions have any programs or activities scheduled to coincide
with this
day? More information is available from the Stay Safe Online web site sponsored by the National Cyber Security Alliance at http://www.staysafeonline.info/ <http://www.staysafeonline.info/>The Washington Post also reported yesterday that the Department
of
Homeland Security and a group of high-tech companies are launching a nationwide media blitz warning customers about how to protect
themselves
against hackers, viruses and fraudsters online. The consumer
education
campaign is a key pillar of the Bush administration's cybersecurity strategy.
