http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/morning_call/2013/03/data-breach-affects-1200-workers-at.html Federal officials are investigating a security breach that allowed access to the personal information of at least 12,000 Savannah River Site workers, reports The Augusta Chronicle. The SRS is in South Carolina about 25 miles southeast of Augusta. The U.S. Department of Energy said in a statement that initial indications are that the disclosure was not the result of a cyber-intrusion and that no classified data was compromised. Workers are being told “to be vigilant in monitoring financial transactions and emails or phone calls relating to such personal transactions.” The paper adds the Savannah River Site has a long history of making nuclear weapons materials, but that today most activity involves environmental management programs to clean up nuclear waste. _______________________________________________ Dataloss Mailing List (dataloss () datalossdb org) Archived at http://seclists.org/dataloss/ Unsubscribe at http://datalossdb.org/mailing_list Supporters: Risk Based Security (http://www.riskbasedsecurity.com/) Risk Based Security equips organizations with security intelligence, risk management services and on-demand security solutions to establish customized risk-based programs to address information security and compliance challenges.
