UPDATE: Hackers release personal info of Kim Kardashian, LAPD Chief Beck and other celebs, politicians

UPDATE 6:27 p.m. Los Angeles police say they're investigating the
posting of personal information, including private financial records,
from several high-profile celebrities and public servants, according
to the Associated Press — including LAPD Chief Charlie Beck.

Commander Andrew Smith told the Associated Press that private
information about high-ranking police officials has been posted online
at least twice before and that police suspect the info was taken from
a private city database.

The AP also reports that the FBI says it's aware of the site, but
wouldn't confirm whether it's investigating further.

UPDATE 6:00 p.m. Hackers have added three more victims to the celebs
whose personal information has been revealed: Britney Spears, Donald
Trump... and Hulk Hogan.

They've also added a charmingly '90s-style Web traffic counter to
their homepage, as well as a button to follow them on Twitter (which
we are not linking to here). Their Twitter account is in Russian.

Previously: A sparse website titled “The Secret Files” has released
what appeared to be the personal information of several high-profile
public officials and celebrities, including LAPD Chief Charlie Beck.
Beck's info appears to have been released in support of rogue ex-LAPD
officer Christopher Dorner.

The information listed by the site includes Social Security numbers,
credit reports, auto loans, bank transaction info, addresses and phone
numbers.

The page on Beck appeared to support Dorner, who killed several people
tied with the department before apparently ending his own life when
surrounded by police. It included the Twitter hashtag
#YouCantCornerTheDorner and a photo showing protesters supporting
Dorner. Beck’s the only figure whose page includes context beyond the
photos and leaked info.

The public servants on the list included Vice President Joe Biden,
Hillary Clinton, FBI Director Robert Mueller and U.S. Attorney General
Eric Holder.

Celebrities whose personal info was outed by the site include Kim
Kardashian, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Ashton Kutcher, Mel Gibson and Paris
Hilton.

The website, which we aren’t linking to here, is registered under the
.su country code, which was originally created for the Soviet Union.
Swiss security blog abuse.ch notesthat top-level domain has been
increasingly used by cybercriminals.

The site appears to mock those cited, including pictures of Kim
Kardashian and Paris Hilton crying, with others on the site presented
with photos that are less than flattering or showing signs of being
upset.
