Two packets of documents recently were mailed anonymously to the
Amarillo Globe-News and a local television station with a handwritten
note that claimed, "These were found in the recycling dumpsters in
Canyon. Identity theft and child safety don't seem to concern our
public school systems."

Elementary School who were eligible for free or reduced-price meals
through a federal program during the 2003-04 and 2005-06 school years.
Applications for subsidized meals from more than 20 families included
their Social Security numbers, incomes, addresses and phone numbers.

Bushland Independent School District to determine how the documents
wound up in a commercial recycling bin in Canyon, where they had the
potential for being used in illicit ways.
