Seaview owner Paul H. Reed said his company is relocating and that he hired a company to burn the documents. "I've done nothing wrong," Reed said. "I can't be responsible for a company I hire."
"I can't be responsible for a company I hire." Is this guy kidding me? Not responsible? Every business should be investigating the security practice of all service providers. Why would you do business with a company who has no security practice in place? In this case, both companies must be responsible. The files contained bank account statements, completed tax forms, credit reports and Social Security numbers, among other information, and most if not all had one broker in common – Seaview Financial of Corona del Mar. Seaview's offices were vacant Monday; it moved out of its East Coast Highway office building last week, according to tenants and the property owner. On Friday, local resident Joan Klose stopped by the Mariners Elementary recycling site to drop off newspapers and found the files stacked high in the bins. "Somebody decided to recycle these people's private lives to the public," Klose said. Seaview owner Paul H. Reed said his company is relocating and that he hired a company to burn the documents. "I've done nothing wrong," Reed said. "I can't be responsible for a company I hire."
