http://www.mysuncoast.com/Global/story.asp?S=10064351&nav=menu577_2_1SARASOTA - Reams of personal information - Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers - have been found carelessly dumped in a Sarasota dumpster.
Police say someone at the Westaff Employment staffing company on U.S. 301 in Sarasota apparently tossed it out. The business appears to be closed.
Some employees of a nearby hair salon found the papers when they went to throw the trash out. They could clearly see tax forms, employment applications and social security and drivers license numbers. "As a business owner, as a citizen, as a mother...as anybody that's not just paperwork, we're told all our lives shred, shred, shred. That should have been shredded. There's free shredding services..there's no excuse," says hairstylist Anita Rence.
Police say the company broke no laws by dumping the personal documents in the trash.
Police will take possession of the dumpster and properly dispose of all of those documents. They also urge anyone who has filed an application with Westaff over the past four years to get a credit check.
