Hey DailyDave, I'd like to share some information about a contest that I've been helping organize, the CSAW Cyber Policy Competition. As has been discussed on this list before by Dan Geer [1], myself [2], and others, there have been suggestions that the US Government should host a bug bounty similar to the ones that many private corporations now run. Our topic for the policy competition this year will challenge students to explore this idea and present a workable solution for a national bug bounty program to help secure the software that US economic and national security interests rely upon. https://csaw.engineering.nyu.edu/policy/prompt Submissions must be no longer than 4 pages and are due on October 1st. Submissions are judged by a wide variety of experts in the field (see below). The top 5 teams will present their proposals in-person at our NYC event in November and the top 3 teams will receive cash prizes and have their policies implemented by NIST [3]. Judges and Organizers * Aaron Brantly, the cyber policy fellow at the Army Cyber Institute * Sean Brooks, a privacy engineer at NIST * Morgan Mayhem, the director of security for the Intercept * Angela McKay, the director for cybersecurity policy and strategy at Microsoft * Zachary Goldman, the executive director for the Center on Law and Security at NYU * Brian Eschels, a current law student at NYU and the challenge lead * and me! Please tell all the students you know about this competition, thanks! -Dan [1] https://lists.immunityinc.com/pipermail/dailydave/2014-October/000784.html [2] https://lists.immunityinc.com/pipermail/dailydave/2014-November/000813.html [3] just kidding, but who knows? _______________________________________________ Dailydave mailing list Dailydave () lists immunityinc com https://lists.immunityinc.com/mailman/listinfo/dailydave
