I'm not sure why you're so excited about this. This panel is up every
year and mostly has the same people on it.

Basically you have Shamir and Rivest as the only two active
cryptographers with Whit Diffie as comedy relief. Brian Snow retired
from the NSA a while ago. It may be a fun format to watch for a Access
Hollywood level overview of recent crypto news, but nothing
groundbreaking has ever been presented here.

As for the NSA, crypto is such a narrow part of their mission. With
decent ciphers and 128-bit+ keys, they're not cracking your crypto to
get to data. They'll be way ahead in Van Eck, bugging, covert software,
getting mfgrs to backdoor products, etc. They are only slightly ahead in
narrow areas of crypto, especially in validating new designs.
