So yesterday at the CANVAS user's group meeting people were starting to
talk about the massive hurricane headed in our direction. Mostly in
Miami people ignore hurricanes. So when they do start to talk about
evacuating that means things are probably going to be bad. Last time
"bad" was no power for several weeks, which meant no sewage for tall
buildings and no gas for cars (those pumps are electric). Driving in
Miami is dangerous at the best of times, but when the traffic lights are
all stuck blinking yellow it becomes suicidal.

Other than hurricanes, we did get a chance to talk rootkits at the
CANVAS user's meeting. I don't necessarily see Immunity's role as "build
the world's most cutting edge rootkit". But having a rootkit that
penetration testers can use with a double-click is just as cool as
having an exploit that breaks into the host with a double-click.

Kostya also made me take the NOP Certification, which I'm happy to say I
did, in fact, pass, much to Kostya's evidenced surprise. :>

In honor of such excitement, there's a "special" here on the news page:

P.S. If you're going to post about the rootkit on ZDnet/etc, please note
it was Daniel Palacio and Bas Alberts who worked on that project, and
not me. Realistically though, I hope lots of people download it and
extend it. There's no I in hacking! :>
