Reading this article about how few women there were running hedge funds, I couldn't help but compare it to our industry. Why are there so few women hackers? Is there a connection between why there are few women hackers and few women hedge funders?

Maybe hedge funds are also filled with alpha-male fcktards of dubious morality that most reasonable beings don't want to waste their time trying to win over?

Just a guess :)
*That's a bit of fox-grapes philosophy as far as I can tell. Hacking is a pure meritocracy - if you feel you're not getting respect for your work, it's just time to GPL more of it. Exploits always earn more points than advisories, of course, since exploits are art, and advisories are corporate propaganda. The basic starting salary for a hacker with decent skills in NYC is 120K, comparable to what your average stripper makes. (Strippers earn about $700 a night, probably work about 3 nights a week)[1].

I'd say you meet less alpha-males as a hacker than a stripper. :>
