Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Logo National Cyber Awareness System: Hurricane-Related Scams [ https://www.us-cert.gov/ncas/current-activity/2019/05/30/Hurricane-Related-Scams ] 05/30/2019 06:05 PM EDT Original release date: May 30, 2019 As the 2019 hurricane season approaches, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA)warns users to remain vigilant for malicious cyberactivity targeting disaster victims and potential donors. Fraudulent emails commonly appear after major natural disasters and often contain links or attachments that direct users to malicious websites. Users should exercise caution in handling any email with a hurricane-related subject line, attachments, or hyperlinks. In addition, users should be wary of social media pleas, texts, or door-to-door solicitations relating to severe weather events.
