Has anyone verified if this is also the case on NT boxen?
Not displaying extensions? Yes, this is the case on NT 4. You *can* see the real extension at a Command Prompt. But the extension is hidden on the Desktop, in Windows Explorer, and in win32 File dialogue boxes. Windows will also show the appropriate icon, e.g. "foo.txt.PIF" will not show ".PIF" but will use an "MS-DOS" icon on the Desktop, in Windows Explorer, and in File dialogue boxes. My thanks to Josh, Jim, PC Help, and others for the info. -Peter
