There are *IX implementations where the master passwd file (/etc/shadow, /etc/master.passwd, etc.) is a so-called opaque file and the /etc/passwd "standard" format file is generated from it. They could easily be put into additional flags in the opaque passwd file. Note that a *IX kernel doesn't touch passwd files; only user mode code changes user ID's and works with the passwds. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.3i Charset: latin1 iQCVAwUBMgo7BbPq1rlP+DKBAQFqoQP/QLMDKtK8lw2yfigmER9cYgMKWRPxpNDS YWzYqWiEXMiG+GV0xJ59IY8nPxs0oyMho+zgg02m0HB4OoKAyAn3J03hh4vp6bpp 68ruT7FlA5J9DZaz1wkNMmFaAkrbPbXRrwxoCuYqVn2IhhH4Qq9R1lipJyROI3cH Y+Jwxkt/4o4= =HnGG -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ===== == Todd Vierling (Personal tv () pobox com; Business tv () iag net) Amiga lives! == == System administrator/technician, Internet Access Group, Orlando Florida == == Dialups in Orange, Volusia, Lake, Osceola counties - http://www.iag.net ==
