I recommend Smart Card Handbook - John Wiley & Sons, or Smart Card
Applications Design Models for Using and Programming Smart Cards.

Also, get familiar with pcsc, winscard and libpcsc.

I would say get into interfacing with smartcards first before
programming ON the smartcard, because that is a tricky field (As it
should be; smartcards are very limited in storage space & so
developing on it should require expertise).

Good luck!

Hi List,

Lately I've gotten really curious about programming on chip cards and EMV technology in general. I'd like a little
guidance as to how to get started in this field. What I've noticed is that deep technical knowledge in this area is
hard to come by; I haven't come across any certs or books so far. What I'd like to know falls in the general
categories:

1. Materials, books, tutorials, links etc as to how to learn the trade.
2. How broad the the field is, and the different skills required in each area

3. The programming skills required for a beginner to have prior to learning this technology.

As always, any knowledge shared is highly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Femi
