Hay you should definitely look into using "OTR" or off the record instant messaging.  It is three layer security, and 
if set up properly it can be used with all different IM protocols.  http://www.torproject.org go down and look at the 
tails usb it comes with OTR.  Anonymous conversations for plausible deniability, end to end encryption, and encrypted 
handshake process to prevent man in the middle attacks.  Use it in conjunction and remember there is no one shot kill 
for true anonymity.
