Not irrespective at all.

The OP's question was about Cisco switches. MD5 is as good as you're
gonna get.

What you said had no relevance to the discussion other than
illustrating that you didn't read the original email.

Do you know US Government recommended to phase out the usage of MD5
from last year ? This is broken long time back.. please google and
see....

I guess irrespective of Cisco router or not - if it is MD5 it is MD5

You go ahead and develop a cracking program for MD5 hashed passwords
on Cisco routers.

Let me know how that works out for you.

What are you talking about?

MD5 is the best way to encrypt passwords on Cisco devices.  The other
format (level 7), or even worse, clear text, sucks.

Hello all, this is my first question here, I have a cisco switch where
my passwords are encrypted with MD5, I wonder if somebody knows if
this encryptions uses an iterative hashing or salting for them to be
less susceptible to rainbow table attack.

Thanks
