I have been seeing (security event 540 and anonymous logon)
Are you seeing other failed login audits? They usually occur in
groups. If they are not grouped, verify that the DC audit policy
includes all failed logins.

Otherwise, see How to use the RestrictAnonymous registry value in
Windows 2000 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/24626).

Has anyone seen this event and any resolution ?
If the IP is not part of your network, block the SMB chatter at your
firewall (misconfiguration?).
